Here are the latest spy photos of the 2012 BMW 3 Series  in Touring (wagon) form. Thanks to our spies, the car codenamed F31 has given us a glimpse of how spacious the loading area is. Previous spyphotos point to a longer wheelbase, which of course means extra legroom.

At the same time bits of the front interior have been exposed. Notice the manual handbrake, multifunction steering wheel, the manual gear lever and the iDrive wheel. It is expected the sedan (F30) will be identical, except of course the rear area from the C pillar.

A range of engines will satisfy buyers with different wallet sizes, from rumoured four-cylinder petrol turbos to stronger diesels. Although highly unlikely for the Touring, an M3 model would use a turbocharged straight six with over 336 kW (450 bhp/ 456 PS). Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and the new 8-speed automatic. Several EfficientDynamics technologies will form part of the package.

BMW starts selling the next 3 Series sedan in 2011 as a 2012 model. The Touring will follow as a 2013 model, although there are concerns it might not be available in the US.
