A photographer attempting to snag a picture of the Ferrari 599 GTO, in Maranello, may have caught something much more interesting - the 599 Spider.

While we cannot be certain, this particular 599 has a number of details which indicate it may be the successor to the 575M Superamerica. As you can see, the top of the A-pillar is taped off with what appears to be a joint for a removable top.  Also, the iconic flying buttress extending down from the roof into the quarter panel looks a bit crooked. All of this suggests the car is sporting a convertible top of some sort.

As we have previously reported, Ferrari CEO Luca di Montezemolo has confirmed the company will unveil a limited production 599 roadster at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. It will likely be powered by a 6.0-liter V12 with 620 PS (456 kW / 612 bhp) and 607 Nm (448 lb-ft) or 670 PS (493 kW / 661 bhp) and 619 Nm (457 lb-ft) of torque.
