Our spies have caught some revealing pictures of the 2012 Mercedes CLS.

Borrowing a number of design cues from the Shooting Brake Concept, the CLS features an aggressive front bumper, a massive grille, LED daytime running lights, and a long bonnet. Further back, the profile boasts a coupe-like roofline, exaggerated wheel arches, and sporty side sills. Last but not least, the rear has distinctive taillights and chrome exhaust tips.

Under the hood, petrol power will be provided by a 306 PS (301 bhp / 225 kW) 3.5-liter V6 and a 435 PS (429 bhp / 320 kW) twin-turbo V8. Diesel lovers will get to choose between a 204 PS (201 bhp / 150 kW) four-cylinder and a 252 PS (248 bhp / 185 kW) 3.0-liter V6. Later, Mercedes will introduce the CLS 63 AMG with a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 churning out 544 PS (536 bhp / 400 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque.

While nothing is official, look for a possible unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in September.
