Diesel gets sporty

Our spyphotographers have managed to catch several new images of the MINI Cooper SD.

Spied undisguised, the SD is a Cooper S with a diesel engine. As you'd expect, it features a sport suspension, a ventilated hood, and a center-mounted dual exhaust system.

Power is likely provided by a 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine with upwards of 140 hp (104 kW / 142 PS). While it will be no match for the 184 hp (137 kW / 187 PS) Cooper S, the SD will outgun the 110 hp (112 PS / 82 kW) Cooper D and the 89 hp (90 PS / 66 kW) One D.

The model will be launched in 2011, so stay tuned for continuing coverage.
